Play Chess at Yale
Whether you're new to the game or a Master, prefer blitz, standard, or bughouse (or some other crazy variation), we have players to keep you interested! We meet three times a week, and try to make each meeting appeal to a specific chess taste:
A Bit of Everything
If you have a taste for variety (ie. don't know what you want), Saturday is the high point of your week! Come to the Saybrook Fellows Lounge (take a left as you enter the dining hall and go all the way down) anytime between 5-7pm and grab dinner with the Chess Club. Saturday meetings are usually our most well attended, with all skill levels represented. This is also the place to be if you enjoy a few minutes (hours) of Bughouse to intersperce your regular chess.
Serious Play
Don't like messing around? Come to our training sessions every Thursday from 8pm to 11pm at Bass Library, room L73. Here we usually play slower games and analyze past games. In addition, our own IM Bogdan Vioreanu goes over general chess tactics and strategy.
Blitz @ Commons
There's nothing like starting the weekend early, with some Blitz! Grab lunch every Friday at Commons from 1-3pm and unwind at the Chess Table (aka where all the cool kids are at) for some Blitz action!
